Silvia Pessoa is a Teaching Professor of English and Co-Area Head for Arts & Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar where she has taught since 2006. Dr. Pessoa received her PhD in Second Language Acquisition from Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on second language writing which she teaches and analyzes using Systemic Functional Linguistics.
