BIO

I am an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Biological Sciences Department of Carnegie Mellon University - Qatar. I have taught the following courses: Experimental Techniques in Molecular Biology, Molecular and Cellular Immunology, Frontiers, Analysis and Discovery in Biological Sciences, Topics in Research, EUREKA, and Genetics. I also mentor undergraduate student(s) undertaking research projects in my lab. In addition to teaching, I also co-lead the department's outreach committee, serve on departmental and extra-departmental committees, and advise senior students on their Honors Thesis projects. The research in my lab is supported by an internal SEED grant. My teaching philosophy is to encourage students to think analytically, critically and independently, and in the courses that I have taught so far, I have used Socratic questioning and flipped classroom strategies to achieve the course's learning objectives. I was also awarded the Wimmer fellowship to develop active learning approaches to teach an advanced immunology elective.
