GAITAR Fellowships target many diverse teaching contexts and learning objectives by supporting many instructor-generated teaching as research (TAR) projects with tangible, holistic support from Eberly Center colleagues from start to finish. DHowever, data collection is centralized, by Eberly Center colleagues, not only to foster individual project dissemination, but also to help identify higher-level patterns in student outcomes, when possible. Fellowships and associated in-kind Eberly Center support may facilitate implementation of TAR project ideas originating during GAITAR Institutes or independently.

Research fellows are appointed for two-year terms. Fellows are chosen because their work is relevant to the interests of faculty and students. Their contributions add depth to our research program and enhance the overall intellectual life of our School. Each gives at least one lecture during the appointment term.

Bringing the arts to STEM fields: Creative exercise helps first-year college students explore majors.

Sponsored by the Provost and administered by the Eberly Center, this program aims to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in CMU courses. Fellows participate in monthly cohort meetings and collaborate regularly with Eberly Center consultants to (re)design a CMU course to: diversify the representation of voices in their disciplines, increase the prevalence of inclusive teaching at CMU, enhance students’ sense of community and belonging, generate and disseminate transferable teaching strategies, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in CMU curricula.
