BIO

 

Professor Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul is a Full Teaching Professor of Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and a globally recognized leader in digital innovation and tech entrepreneurship education. With over 25 years of international academic and industry experience across Australia, the USA, the Middle East, and Thailand, she is the first Thai female professor in Information Systems in both Australia and Qatar. Prior to joining CMU-Q, she held a tenured position at Macquarie University in Australia for over a decade.

 

Professor Vatanasakdakul holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from UNSW Australia, supported by the prestigious Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship, where she began her academic career. Her research and teaching interests span digital transformation, human-centric innovation, entrepreneurship education, and the intersection of emerging technologies and public policy. She has received multiple accolades for her excellence in teaching and learning, including the Meritorious Teaching Award from Carnegie Mellon University in 2020 and a Teaching Excellence Award from Macquarie University. She actively supervises doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students working on frontier topics in digital innovation and transformation.

 

At Carnegie Mellon University Qatar, she leads the development of the university’s first multidisciplinary minor in Tech Entrepreneurship, empowering students to design, build, and pitch real-world startups. She is the founding president of the Thai Chapter of the Association for Information Systems (THAIS) and President of the AIS Qatar Chapter, playing a pivotal role in strengthening both local and regional IS communities through impactful programming and engagement. She is also a founding member of AIS SIGGreen (Special Interest Group on Green Information Systems), where she has served in several leadership and service roles, promoting sustainability-focused IS research and global collaboration.

 

Professor Vatanasakdakul serves as the Local Chair of ICIS 2024 (International Conference on Information Systems) in Bangkok and has chaired numerous conferences and research tracks at leading Information Systems events. In recognition of her outstanding leadership in organizing ICIS 2024, she received the Information Systems Community Award, highlighting her impact on fostering international collaboration and advancing the global IS field. She also serves on the advisory board for Thailand’s national AI policy and advises several leading private-sector organizations on digital innovation and strategic transformation.
