Huajin Wang

Huajin Wang is a Senior Librarian and former Director of the Open Science & Data Collaborations program at Carnegie Mellon University Libraries. She provides strategy, consultation, and training that help researchers find, access, and evaluate information and technology. She develops programs and initiatives that help research communities make their research more open, reproducible, reusable, and trustworthy. She fosters collaboration across disciplinary boundaries and works with stakeholders to build a healthy data ecosystem. She currently leads the AI in Research Program to faciliate the responsible use of AI in the research life cycle. Her current research interest is at the intersection of open science and AI. 

As an open science advocate, Huajin has served on the leadership team at the Center for Open Science to drive culture change towards more transparent and trustworthy science. She is on the Advisory Committee of UK Reproducibility Network, and is on the Steering Committee of the AAAS Societal Impacts of Science and Enginnering Section. She founded the Open Science Collaborative of Library and Information Professionals and is the inaugural chair of the Steering Committee.

Huajin completed her PhD in Cell Biology at University of Alberta, postdoctoral research at Yale/Harvard, and as a faculty member of Biology Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. During her career as a scientist, she has collaborated with biologists, clinicians, and data scientists on many successful research projects in areas spanning membrane trafficking, lipid metabolism, bioinformatics, and computational analysis of large multimodal datasets.
