Brian Kovak

Brian Kovak has taught three courses in the Master of Science in Public Policy and Management (MSPPM) program (Policy in a Global Economy, Introduction to Migration Policy, and Critical Analysis of Policy Research, and two courses in the Ph.D. program (Ph.D. Microeconomics and Ph.D. Seminar I).

His strategy in developing courses for MSPPM students is to provide a foundation of historical and institutional knowledge alongside specific tools that students can use to formulate and rigorously evaluate policies. This combination ensures that students have well-defined skills that differentiate them in the job market, while maintaining a solid grounding in the application area, which allows them to apply their policy analysis skills appropriately. Dr. Kovak also seeks to provide tools and strategies that are applicable across policy domains, so students with diverse interests can benefit from each course.
