BIO

Vijayakumar (Kumar) Bhagavatula is the U.A. & Helen Whitaker Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. He was the Director of CMU-Africa (Kigali, Rwanda) during 2018-2021. Prof. Kumar's research interests are in computer vision and machine learning with applications in biometrics and autonomous driving. He is a Fellow of Optica (formerly Optical Society of America), SPIE, IEEE, IAPR, NAI and AAAS.
