BIO
Professor Pierre Jinghong Liang is a Professor of Accounting at the Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since 2023, Professor Liang is also the founder and director of the Accounting AI Research Lab. Professor Liang received his PhD degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from University of Florida. His research articles have been published in accounting outlets such as The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Journal of Accounting Research, in economics outlets such as American Economic Review, International Journal of Central Banking, and Journal of Public Economics, and in machine learning outlets such as ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data (TKDD) and Proceedings in Machine Learning Research (PMLR), among others. His latest research focuses on applying artificial intelligence in accounting and auditing problems, double-entry bookkeeping and graph theory, economic theory of disclosure, and axiomatic foundations of accounting income measurement. Professor Liang’s teaching has won the ``Excellence in the Classroom'' award at the Tepper School of Business. Among his professional services outside Carnegie Mellon are serving the Accounting and Economics Society (AES) as a founder and serving the Chinese Accounting Professors Association of North America (CAPANA) as an officer.
