Jeria Quesenberry

Jeria Quesenberry, Ph.D. is the Associate Dean of Faculty in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences and a Teaching Professor of Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University.

Her research focuses on cultural influences in the technology field, with particular emphasis on social inclusion, broadening participation, career values, organizational interventions, and work-life balance. Specifically, she is nterested in understanding the demands and motivations of information systems human capital and how these professionals react to their workplace environment, administrative structures, technologies and policies. Her work has been published in leading journals and conferences, including the Information Systems Journal, European Journal on Information Systems, Data Base for Advances in Information Systems, and the International Conference on Information Systems.

Dr. Quesenberry is the co-editor of the Handbook of Gender and Technology (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2023), alongside Eileen Trauth. This comprehensive volume examines gender equity in the technology sector, addressing environmental, identity, and individual influences while highlighting interventions to close the gender gap. In collaboration with Carol Frieze, she has also co-authored two books: Cracking the Digital Ceiling: Global Views of Women in Computing (Cambridge University Press, 2019), which offers diverse perspectives that challenge Western stereotypes about women in computing, and Kicking Butt in Computer Science: Women in Computing at Carnegie Mellon University (Dog Ear Publishing, 2015), which discusses how computer science programs can support women's success without resorting to gender-specific accommodations.

Before joining Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Quesenberry earned her Ph.D. in Information Sciences and Technology from Pennsylvania State University and worked as a consultant at Accenture.
