BIO

Ming Ming Chapman, a Distinguished Service Professor of Design at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, is a Taiwanese-British designer, educator, and researcher committed to shaping equitable futures. With over 20 years of experience, she has led design teams on transformative projects for brands such as JPMorgan, Puma, and The Body Shop, as well as for cultural organizations and NGOs like The London Design Festival and UN Volunteer Service. Most recently, she led the art direction and visual identity for Chanel’s new Circularity Strategy, adopted across the House worldwide.

Chapman is an experienced and dedicated educator whose teaching bridges design and business. She has taught at undergraduate and graduate levels across three continents, advising over 20 graduate thesis projects. She played a key role in developing a graduate program in Art, Design & Media for underrepresented communities in the UK, serving as Program Director and building a dedicated faculty team.

Chapman is a sought-after speaker and workshop leader at leading design schools worldwide, including MIT, Royal College of Art, and KAIST. She also provides professional education to global brands such as Comme des Garçons. Her research focuses on design, worldview, and social and ecological justice, exploring how design can challenge fixed worldviews in organizations and communities to unlock more equitable futures.

 

Professor Chapman is also featured faculty for the Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business Executive Education program, Design Thinking with AI.
