BIO

teach Arabic, second language acquisition (SLA), and sociolinguistics. I have taught Arabic at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, The University of Texas at Austin, and Middlebury College, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania in 2018-2019. I was also Queen Rania Foundation (QRF) – Education Endowment Foundation Teaching and Learning Resources Fellow (2022-2023) in Amman, Jordan, where I worked on advancing QRF’s work on research-informed pedagogies, and designing approaches to promote the uptake of educational research for teachers, teacher trainers, and policy makers.

In my first year at CMUQ, I developed two new courses in Spring 2024, 79286 – Movers and Shakers in the Arab World and 82-313 – Topics in Contemporary Arabic Language, Literature and, Culture: Cinema in the Arab World. I also completely changed the curriculum of two others in Fall 2023, 82-313 - Topics in Contemporary Arabic Language, Literature and, Culture and 82-414 - Arabic for the Professions I.
