Ashley Werlinich

My position as arts and humanities librarian at Carnegie Mellon University encompasses a varied and interdisciplinary group of research interests; I currently serve as the Liaison to Drama and IDeATe and as the the co-liaison to the Entertainment Technology Center and First Year Writing. As such, I aim to develop collaborations between the humanities, arts, creative technologies, and library spaces on campus. I earned my MS in Library Sciences from UNC Chapel Hill (2021) after completing my MA in English literature at UNC Chapel Hill (2019) with a focus on early modern literature, book history, and history of medicine. I have a background in interdisciplinary humanities research and instruction and have taught undergraduate students both as a library instructor and an English instructor. I also serve as one of the series editors of the Games division of the Carnegie Mellon University Press, alongside Jonathan Walton (CMU Entertainment Technology Center).

In my work, I seek out ways to incorporate special collections, makerspaces, and artistic practices alongside traditional research methods. I am passionate about library outreach and instruction, and aim to make the library a welcoming and relevant space for all. In addition, I have a passion for art, tinkering, and creative collaboration, and strive to build on these skills (and help others build upon them) in my work as a librarian to my various departments.
